Our Objective

The programme directly aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including No Poverty (SDG 1), Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Gender Equality (SDG 5), Climate Action (SDG 13), and Life on Land (SDG 15). The main goals are to:

  • Strengthen the capacity of farmer organisations to deliver rights-based services.
  • Increase women’s, youth’s, and underrepresented groups’ participation in leadership.
  • Promote sustainable agricultural enterprises that diversify incomes and increase resilience to climate change.

Core Result Areas

  1. Stronger Farmer Organisations: The programme focuses on building democratic, inclusive farmer organisations, empowering members to take leadership roles.
  2. Sustainable Agriculture & Resilient Livelihoods: It aims to boost farmer incomes, increase access to financial services, and support investment in sustainable agricultural practices.
  3. Climate Change & Biodiversity Conservation: ASILI-B enhances agroecosystems and water conservation practices to increase resilience and biodiversity.
  4. Food and Nutrition Security: The programme promotes diversified and nutritious food production and distribution.
  5. Advocacy: Regional and national advocacy efforts will push for evidence-based policy changes to strengthen agroforestry policies and food security.

Empowering local communities

ASILI-B worked closely with local, regional, and national platforms to ensure inclusive participation. The programme empowered women, men, youth, and children to drive positive change in their households, communities, and the environment. Activities included:

  • Capacity building
  • Formation and strengthening of smallholder farmer platforms
  • Community mobilization from grassroots to national levels

Partnership-Driven Implementation

The programme was implemented in collaboration with:

  • Core Partners: Member-based farmer organizations
  • Technical Partners: Expert organizations providing capacity and innovation
  • Strategic Alliances: Collaborations with stakeholders aligned with the programme’s goals

Policy Advocacy: Driving Systematic Change

Advocacy was a central pillar of ASILI-B. The Civic Social Protection Foundation (CSP), a technical partner, led the Policy Advocacy Component under the project:
“Enhancing Pro-Smallholder Farmers Policies on Agroforestry Practices, Biodiversity Restoration, and Management for Sustainable Livelihoods.”

CSP’s advocacy work covered Mara, Kagera, and Dodoma regions, focusing on influencing duty bearers to:

  • Enact and implement supportive agroforestry policies
  • Allocate adequate resources in public budgets
  • Integrate smallholder priorities into national and local plans and strategies

Through this multi-stakeholder approach, ASILI-B strengthened the enabling environment for smallholder farmers to thrive—ensuring resilient communities and sustainable ecosystems.
