Continuing Our Work in Mirerani – A Joint Commitment by CSP and IPIS

Continuing Our Work in Mirerani – A Joint Commitment by CSP and IPIS

The Civic Social Protection Foundation (CSP), in partnership with the International Peace Information Service (IPIS), is continuing its engagement with communities in the Mirerani Tanzanite mining area. This ongoing initiative is part of our shared commitment to promoting gender equality, human rights, and inclusive development in Tanzania’s artisanal and small-scale mining sector.

Following initial research and engagement activities in late 2024, CSP and IPIS remain actively involved in supporting women miners and amplifying their voices. Together, we are working to address the structural barriers that limit women’s participation, safety, and economic mobility in the Tanzanite sector. This includes ongoing dialogue with local stakeholders, follow-up visits, and the co-creation of practical, community-driven solutions.

Our continued presence in Mirerani reflects more than just a project timeline. It demonstrates our long-term commitment to ensuring that the voices of women in mining are not only heard, but are also central to shaping policy, influencing change, and building more equitable and sustainable livelihoods.

This partnership goes beyond research. It is about walking with communities, fostering collaboration with government institutions, civil society actors, and mining associations, and ensuring that progress is rooted in the realities and priorities of those most affected.

CSP and IPIS believe that lasting impact is built through consistent engagement, trust, and shared responsibility. That is why this initiative will continue to evolve, grow, and adapt in response to the needs of women miners and the broader Mirerani community.

We invite all interested stakeholders to follow our journey, connect with our work, and support this ongoing effort to create a safer, fairer, and more inclusive mining environment for all.
